Collection: Elizabeth Ricketson
Elizabeth Ricketson is a Vermont-based painter whose work bridges abstraction and representation through a bold and expressive use of color. A graduate of Providence College, she later studied figure drawing at the Rhode Island School of Design, building a strong foundation in form, movement, and composition.
In recent years, Ricketson has embraced abstract expressionism as a central influence, developing a distinctive approach that reinterprets familiar subjects through unexpected color and dynamic gesture. Her process often begins with an acrylic underpainting, which she manipulates intuitively—using tools ranging from brushes to paper towels and her hands—to create layered, luminous surfaces.
Working in both acrylic and oil, her paintings balance structure with spontaneity, resulting in compositions that feel both grounded and exploratory. A commissioned artist and active member of several New England arts organizations, Ricketson exhibits widely and has received numerous awards for her work in both abstract and landscape painting.
Based in South Pomfret, Vermont, she continues to paint and teach, sharing her evolving practice through classes and demonstrations throughout the region.
