Vermont Rustic

Elizabeth Ricketson, a Vermont-based painter, studied figure drawing at the Rhode Island School of Design, where she developed a deep understanding of form and movement that continues to inform her work. In recent years, she has turned her focus to painting Vermont’s rural landscapes and barns, exploring how light, color, and atmosphere shape a sense of place. Embracing abstract expressionism, she marries abstraction with representational themes, using unexpected color choices to reimagine the familiar. Each painting often begins with an acrylic wash, layered and manipulated with brushes, paper towels, and her hands to achieve depth and emotion. Working primarily in acrylic and oil, Elizabeth is an award-winning artist and active member of numerous New England art associations. She lives and paints in South Pomfret, Vermont, where she also teaches contemporary painting.
