Ridgeline - Chromatic Dwellings No. 21
Ridgeline distills the familiar shape of a house into its simplest geometry and stretches it into the language of landscape. A gently undulating horizon line separates vivid fields of color, suggesting rolling hills, distant mountains, water, sky, or cultivated land viewed from above.
The elongated form encourages the eye to travel across the piece, transforming a traditional dwelling into a study of place and movement. Depending on the viewer’s perspective, the sculpture can be read as architecture, topography, or a memory of the landscape itself.
Part sculpture, part painting, and part architectural object, each work in Stanton Sears’ Chromatic Dwellings series is individually constructed and painted by hand.
