Vintage English Ironstone Pitcher w/ Vertical Fluting
Vintage English Ironstone Pitcher w/ Vertical Fluting
A beautiful 19th-century English white ironstone pitcher with an elegant paneled body, tall sweeping handle, and distinctive octagonal foot. The vertical fluting gives the pitcher wonderful architectural detail while the simple white glaze keeps it remarkably fresh and versatile.
Dating to approximately the mid-1800s, this is the sort of substantial ironstone vessel originally made for everyday household use and now especially lovely as a decorative object. Its generous scale makes it perfect for branches, garden flowers, hydrangeas, or simply displayed on its own among other collected whiteware.
The underside bears a faint impressed mark, though the maker is not clearly legible.
From a private collection.
