Current Form - Chromatic Dwellings No. 18
With its flowing carved surface and luminous color palette, Current Form explores the meeting point between structure and motion. The familiar house form remains intact, yet the sculpted grooves soften and animate the object, giving it the feeling of movement shaped by water, wind, or time.
The contrasting planes of cobalt, lavender blue, yellow, and lime create shifting visual relationships as the piece is viewed from different angles. Though rooted in architecture, the work leans toward abstraction — somewhere between a dwelling, a landscape, and a carved color study.
Hand-carved from solid wood and painted in layered matte color, this piece reflects Stanton Sears’ ongoing interest in simplified form, spatial memory, and the emotional resonance of home.
Part sculpture, part painting, and part architectural object, each work in Stanton Sears’ Chromatic Dwellings series is individually constructed and painted by hand.
