Threshold Study - Chromatic Dwellings No. 17
With its recessed architectural opening and companion cube form, Threshold Study explores ideas of entry, scale, and spatial relationship through a highly restrained geometric language. The saturated blue structure appears both monumental and intimate, while the violet plinth creates a grounded stage-like presence beneath it.
The carved interior void introduces shadow and depth, transforming the simple dwelling form into something contemplative and quietly interactive. The small companion element at the entrance suggests a figure, marker, or invitation — reinforcing the work’s subtle emotional resonance.
Part sculpture, part painting, and part architectural object, each work in Stanton Sears’ Chromatic Dwellings series is individually constructed and painted by hand.
