Justin Wheatley

Collection: Justin Wheatley

Justin Wheatley is a Utah-based painter whose work is rooted in a deep appreciation for both the natural landscape and the built environment. Born and raised in Clinton, Utah, he holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Utah State University and a Master of Arts from National University, with a specialization in National Board Leadership.

Best known for his distinctive barn paintings, Wheatley distills familiar rural forms into compositions that feel both grounded and quietly contemporary. His work balances structure and atmosphere—where strong architectural lines meet expansive skies, shifting light, and nuanced color.

Wheatley expanded his presence to the East Coast through SQUIRREL Art + Gathered Goods, the first gallery in the region to represent his work. For the gallery, he creates a collection of Vermont-inspired paintings, drawing on the state’s iconic barns and pastoral landscapes while maintaining his signature style.

In addition to his studio practice, Wheatley is a high school art teacher, bringing the same sense of curiosity and discipline to both his teaching and his painting. He lives and works in Salt Lake City with his wife and four daughters, where the surrounding landscape continues to inform and inspire his work.
